The History of Rude Manuevers In the late 1980s, four best friends, Tony Perry, Rodyon Jones, Sang Yi and Aaron Kirk, known by many as the ‘poor boys’, coined the term "Rude Maneuver" to describe the eratic, terrifying driving style of Rodyon Jones. It was usually preceded by, "Dammit Rod, that was a...", and finished with, "We almost died, but that kicked ass!"
Growing up in a poor, rough neighborhood led the guys to an appreciation of all things rude.... rude cars, rude bikes, rude language, rude attire, rude music... and soon, the term grew to describe not only driving maneuvers, but their entire ‘rude’ lifestyle. These four learned that in order to succeed, they must live their lives to the fullest, pushing harder, faster and more aggressively than any competitor would dare to push. They learned that you don’t get ahead of the pack unless you take that narrow, terrifying lane that no one else has the balls to take. They learned that when you are at the bottom, there is no where to go but up. They learned that when you have nothing, you have nothing to lose. The ‘poor boys’ found themselves in a very powerful position.
As the guys moved through life, they found 2 successes for every failure in every venture they attempted and aggressively pushed each other up through every success, and helped each other up after every face-plant. Through their journey they brought in new members to the Rude Maneuvers family, each of them having similiar backgrounds and qualities. Allan Ownby, Domingo DeGrazia, Jennifer Kirk and Mike Robert completed the rude group and they all set out to make their marks on the world as individuals, but with a large umbrella of support.
Rude Maneuvers Records was formed in 1995 to market and promote Domingo DeGrazia and Aaron Kirk’s musical creation, ImpactDomination, which they recorded and produced from "DeGrazia Music Design" Domingo’s self-constructed recording studio. Later, with much help from Jennifer Kirk, Rude Maneuvers Records produced many other CD’s and put on large shows, helping other bands play venues that they may not have had the opportunity to play otherwise.
As time went by the members pushed through countless numbers of relationships, college degrees, corporate dealings, musical ventures, and various ups and downs. Rude Maneuvers Racing was born to support their need for Rude Athletics, including car and motorcycle building and racing, BMX stunt riding, sand motor sports and damn near anything else you can think of that might get you killed.
Rude Maneuvers Apparel came next, spawning several clothing lines including "Stealthwear", "Rude Gurl" and "Street Knowledge", all of them expressing the Rude Maneuvers lifestyle. And most recently Rude Radio was launched in order to bring the voice of all those Rude to broadcast level and give opportunity to underground bands to be heard worldwide. Special help came from John Campbell and Lee Horton, enabling Rude Maneuvers to be brought into every home in the world.
So what is Rude Maneuvers, you may ask? Rude Maneuvers is a lifestyle, an umbrella to cover all of our insanity... Rude Maneuvers are those lane-changes that you make when there is no lane to be found... a Rude Maneuver is when you walk up to a girl and ask her out right in front of her boyfriend, and invite him to watch.... a Rude Maneuver is when you walk into class with a shirt on that says "Instructions, Screw, Nut, Bolt".... Rude Maneuvers is putting the cart before the horse and pushing the horse to catch up.... a Rude Maneuver is deciding to pull a trick that you’ve never tried before when you’re 6ft. above the lip in the middle of a competition.... Rude Maneuvers is not giving up no matter how far you’re pushed down... Rude Maneuvers is seeing beyond your competitor’s strengths and beyond the simple victory to the end goal, success.... Rude Maneuvers is all these things... Rude Maneuvers is us.
